We need:
For the sugar cookies:
125
g butter
125
g caster sugar
1
egg
1
package vanilla sugar
250
g plain flour
For the royal icing
250
g icing sugar
1
egg white
1
tbsp lemon juice
food
color
How do we proceed:
Preheat the oven to 180°C degrees.
Add butter and sugar in a bowl and beat it together until light and creamy.
Add the egg and vanilla sugar and mix together.
Shift half the flour in the bowl and mix it in, then shift in the other half and mix again.
Knead the dough until smooth, form a ball and then wrap in cling film. Let it rest for half an hour in the fridge.
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface and cut out forms.
Place on a backing tray lined with baking parchment and bake for 10-15 minutes until light golden-brown.
Allow to cool.
In the meantime we prepare the royal icing. For this we shift the icing sugar in a bowl.
Add the egg white and mix well.
Put the royal icing in bowls and mix with different food colors.
After the cookies cooled down, decorate them.
