Coq au vin

Coq au vin

As I showed you a French dessert last time, I thought I show you a French main course today. It would have been more logical if I first showed you the recipe of Coq au vin, but let's leave it that way. This dish I cooked last year...or was it 2 years ago?...I cannot remember exactly. I had invited my friends for dinner and the theme was French cuisine. It was not planned, I noticed it after I cooked everything. We enjoyed the coq au vin very much. I apologize for the photos...did not really have much time to make really nice photos. Enough talked, here is the recipe.

Crêpes Suzette

Crêpe Suzette is a famous French dessert consisting of pancakes flambéed in an orange liqueur and orange juice sauce. I didn’t flambéed the pancakes because I was afraid that I would light the kitchen. Better safe than sorry. For the sauce you can use Curaçao or Grand Marnier. Or another orange liqueur. I used my homemade orange liqueur.

Hasselback potatoes

Hasselback potatoes

My dear readers, I returned home. Thailand was wonderful...I would have loved to stay there longer. It was so gorgeous there. Sun, beach and the sea...this is all I need to be happy! And the food...I loved the food. But after 2 weeks of Thai food you get the desire to eat something European. Curries and Co are really fine...but after a while you want to eat a pizza, a burger or a normal soup. When I was back home the first thing that I baked were these hasselback potatoes. I choose to bake this dish because I had all the ingredients at home and I did not have to go shopping. And it is also an easy dish.

Gingerbread Smoothie

Gingerbread Smoothie

Now after Christmas we have more gingerbread than we can eat. Sometimes we cannot see it anymore. So I have eaten so much gingerbread -  for this year it is enough. But we do not want to throw away the rest. And you don’t have to. You can use the remaining gingerbread as a cheesecake base. Or you make a tasty smoothie out of it…just as I did. It is very  simple and tastes super delicious. By the way...while you are reading this article I am enjoying a cocktail or I am lying on a beach. So the next period will be quite here.

Bread Pudding

Bread Pudding

What do you do with old bread? Do you throw it away? No way! You can either make bread dumplings or bread pudding. Since I don’t like bread dumplings I have decided to make bread pudding. And I have never regretted this decision. Whether for breakfast or as a dessert...bread pudding always tastes good.
