Bread Pudding

Bread Pudding

What do you do with old bread? Do you throw it away? No way! You can either make bread dumplings or bread pudding. Since I don’t like bread dumplings I have decided to make bread pudding. And I have never regretted this decision. Whether for breakfast or as a dessert...bread pudding always tastes good.

You need:

4 slices of bread
soft butter, for the mold and for spreading
dried fruit
1 egg
1 tbsp icing sugar
1 tbsp vanilla sugar
75 ml cream
50 ml milk

Preparation time: 15 minutes
Backing time: 30 minutes
Servings: 2

This is how we proceed:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°degrees. Spread 2 oven-proof cups or molds with butter.
  2. Whisk the egg with the icing sugar, vanilla sugar, cream and milk.
  3. Remove the crust from the bread, spread the bread with butter and cut into bite-size pieces. Sprinkle some dried fruit (or raisins) in the greased cups/ molds, add the bread pieces and spread again some fruits. Pour some of the egg-milk mixture over it. Repeat the whole thing 2-3 times. Bake for 30 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle with icing sugar and serve.
