What do you do with old bread? Do you throw it away? No way! You can either make bread dumplings or bread pudding. Since I don’t like bread dumplings I have decided to make bread pudding. And I have never regretted this decision. Whether for breakfast or as a dessert...bread pudding always tastes good.
You need:
4 slices of bread
soft butter, for the mold
and for spreading
dried fruit
1 egg
1 tbsp icing sugar
1 tbsp vanilla sugar
75 ml cream
50 ml milk
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Backing time: 30 minutes
Servings: 2
This is how we proceed:
- Preheat oven to 180°degrees. Spread 2 oven-proof cups or molds with butter.
- Whisk the egg with the icing sugar, vanilla sugar, cream and milk.
- Remove the crust from the bread, spread the bread with butter and cut into bite-size pieces. Sprinkle some dried fruit (or raisins) in the greased cups/ molds, add the bread pieces and spread again some fruits. Pour some of the egg-milk mixture over it. Repeat the whole thing 2-3 times. Bake for 30 minutes.
- Sprinkle with icing sugar and serve.
What do you do with the bread leftovers?
