Sugar melon buttermilk ice cream

Sugar melon buttermilk ice cream

As you may know, since last year I am the owner of an ice machine. Last year I didn’t use the ice machine so much, but this year I changed this. I'm not the big ice cream eater now, but I like to try new tastes. To be honest I like more refined tastes, such as this sugar melon buttermilk ice cream.

You need:

½ sugar melon
80 g sugar
2 egg yolks
125 ml buttermilk (with lemon flavor)
60 ml cream

Portions: 4
Preparation time: 25 minutes
Freezing time: 45-60 minutes

Sugar melon

This is how we proceed:

  1. Remove the seeds and spoon out the pulp. Puree the melon pulp. Give melon and 40 g of sugar in a saucepan and simmer over medium heat.
  2. Beat the egg yolks with the remaining sugar for 5 minutes until you get a light yellow mass.
  3. Add the melon and mix. Put the mixture back into the pot and boil for 2-3 more minutes at low temperature.
  4. Remove from heat and add the buttermilk (I took one with lemon flavor) and the cream.
  5. Put the ice in the bowl of the ice machine and place in the refrigerator.
  6. After the mass has cooled process to ice. Depending on the ice machine, it can take between 45 and 60 minutes.

Place in cups and serve.

I do not know whether this ice cream can be prepared without an ice machine. I Think you can give the mass in the freezer. You just have to try it.
