Clafoutis with cherries



Hello everyone. Today we have Clafoutis aux cerises. Clafoutis is a French specialty, a sort of in-between soufflé and cake. It consists of fruit and a liquid sweetened batter that resembles to the one for pancake. (Source: wikipedia.com)


We need (for a 26 cm Ø form):


600 g cherries without core
4 eggs
250 ml milk
120 g flour
100 g sugar
1 pinch of salt
½ tsp vanilla sugar

+ butter for greasing
powder sugar

How it’s done:


Preheat oven to 180 °C degrees.

Grease the pan with butter and flour. Set aside.

Wash, dry and core the cherries. Spread evenly on the bottom of the form.



Mix eggs, milk, sugar, flour, vanilla sugar and salt until you get a smooth, viscous dough. Spread over the cherries.



Bake for 40-45 minutes, until the top side is golden brown and feels firm.

Let cool, sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve. It tastes good both lukewarm and cold.
