Naan bread

Naan bread

If you like Indian food, than you know the delicious naan bread, which is often served as a side dish for main courses. It can be dipped in curry, eaten with soup or served with tasty dips. I served the naan bread with humus. In India naan is usually baked on the open fire, but that does not mean that you cannot bake the naan bread at home. Here is a recipe for the naan bread.

You need:

300 g wheat flour
1 ½ tsp dry yeast
1 tsp sugar
½ tsp salt
½ tsp baking powder
1 tbsp oil
150 g yogurt
30--50 ml of warm water (if the dough is not soft)

This is how we proceed:

Mix dry yeast with the sugar and 1 tbsp warm water and set aside for 5 minutes.

Mix flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl. Add oil, yogurt and yeast and knead to smooth dough. If the dough is still sticky add a bit of flour. If the dough is too dry add some warm water.
