Guacamole

Guacamole

Guacamole, a dip made from avocados, is originally from Mexico. The trick to perfect guacamole is using good, ripe avocados. I have used it as a dip for homemade chips, but you can also eat it as a spread. And here's the recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe avocados
  •  ½  onion
  • 1 tomato
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • salt
  • some lime juice (or lemon juice)
  • 1 tbsp oil (optional)

Ingredients guacamole

Preparation::

Peel the avocados, remove the seeds and mash the pulp with a fork, until you get  a creamy mixture. Finely chop the garlic or press it and add to the avocados. Add the lemon/ lime juice (the juice prevents the oxidation of the avocados and that he gets black).

Deseed the tomatoes and cut them into small cubes. Chop onion in small pieces.

Add the tomatoes and the onions and stir. Season with salt. And your dip is ready.

Tips & Tricks

Tipp 1:

Buy the avocados a few days earlier, so they are really ripe and soft. Should they still be too hard, they can be wrapped in newspaper store at room temperature for two days.

Tipp 2:

To peel of a tomato, carve the skin and add it into a pot of boiling water.

Tomatoes can be peeled very easily if they are put briefly into boiling water and then put them into cold water.
