One more day and the Christmas season officially begins. Last year I showed you the one or the other Christmas recipe. This year I've prepared a few new recipes for you and I will start with a gingerbread one.
You need:
250
g flour
100
g honey
50g
brown sugar
30g
butter
1
egg
1
tbsp cacao
1
tsp baking powder
2
tsp mixed spice
1
pinch of salt
This is what you need to do:
Add honey, butter and sugar in a saucepan and heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the butter and the sugar have completely dissolved. Then put the mixture in a mixing bowl and let it cool down.
In a bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking soda, and spices
Add the egg to the cooled honey mixture and mix well.
Add flour mixture to the honey mixture and knead until a smooth dough forms and it self-detaches from the bowl wall. Form dough into a ball, wrap in cling film and refrigerate for 2 hours.
On a floured surface, roll the dough out 1 cm thick. Cut the desired shapes with cookie cutters. Place cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
In the preheated oven bake the cookies for 8 minutes at 175°C. Allow to cool and store them in a closed container.
I received the tip to place a small bowl with water in the oven. So the gingerbread is softer. I will try it next time.
What about you guys? Have you already started to bake Christmas cookies?
