Hello my dears! If you are looking for a
healthy snack then you are in the right place. After the Christmas season, many
of us want to eat healthier. I for example am on a diet - a few pounds have to
go and I think now is the time to start losing weight. However, I do not want
to miss anything. That is why I am looking for healthy alternatives. The granola
bars aren’t forbidden in my diet...why? Because they are healthy, vegan,
contain no sugar and still taste delicious. In addition, they are the perfect snack
between meals.
Appletini
Sunday, January 14, 2018
I like to go out and drink cocktail with my friends. In Vienna, there are many cool, nice cocktail bars worth a visit or more. Bars that offer a long list of cocktails: with or without alcohol. Sometime it is very hard to decide on a cocktail. Sometimes I choose something that I already know and sometimes I try something new. In this way I discovered the Appeltini. I like it so much, that I decided to mix it myself. I like that it consists of a few ingredients, not like many other cocktails. I would like to mix cocktail more often, but it scares me when I read: 1 cl X, 2 cl Y, 1 cl A and 5 other things. Then I prefer to leave it. Fortunately, this did not happen in the case of the Appletini, so today here is the recipe.
Peanut butter bookies
Wednesday, November 15, 2017
Do
you know what I’ve noticed? That I have not published a cookie recipe for ages.
Well, I have not baked cookies for ages. I wonder why. I like cookies and they
are easy and fast to make. I'm now sorting out my cookbooks. That means I look
at the books and when I realize that no recipe appeals to me, I sort it out.
And while I looked through the book "Cook's bible - baking" I came
across the recipe for peanut butter cookies. Since I have an open peanut butter
jar in the house (and I did not know what to do with it), I spontaneously
decided to bake the peanut butter cookies. That was a good decision, because
the cookies taste incredibly good. Here is the recipe...if you want to bake
some too.
Oven-roasted pumpkin soup
Tuesday, November 7, 2017
On
the blog, there are two other pumpkin soup recipe. Nevertheless, what can I do
if I love pumpkin soup and try every year new recipes? They taste so delicious
that I cannot withhold the recipes from you. I do not post every pumpkin soup
recipe I try, but this time it just was not possible. Even if I have other
recipes I want to share with you, today I had to publish the recipe for
oven-roasted pumpkin soup. You will surely forgive me.
Sage polenta with mushrooms
Friday, November 3, 2017
It's
time for a main course recipe. This time, I have a recipe of sage polenta with
fried mushrooms. A simple, delicious and vegan recipe. I cooked this recipe the
first time last year. And then it was prepared again and again. Last time, I
also took some pictures, because I did not want to keep the sage polenta with
fried mushroom recipe just for me. It just tastes too good...and as you know, I
like to share good recipes with you.
Creepy graves
Wednesday, October 25, 2017
To
be honest, I didn’t want to prepare anything for Halloween. When I plan to
prepare something for Halloween for the blog, I begin at the beginning of the
month. So I have enough time to bake the recipes, to photograph and to write
the post. But this month I did not do it. And then a few days before Halloween
I decided to prepare at least one recipe. There was no time for more. I wanted
to be something simple that everyone can prepare. So I decided for the creepy
graves (also known as pudding graves). I wanted to do this for years. Here is
how it is done.
Beetroot puree
Saturday, October 21, 2017
It's time for a new recipe. I thought it is finally
time to publish the recipe for beetroot puree. It's a simple recipe and for
this reason I've been wondering if I should share it with you or not. But most
time the simple things are the best, so why not. And maybe not everyone knows
the recipe of beetroot puree. I did not know it until a few years ago.
Almond milk
Wednesday, October 11, 2017
As you know I am not a
vegan. Nor a vegetarian. But I like to try out new recipes. Also vegan recipes.
When it comes to cooking, I have no problems…I find it very easy to cook vegan.
But when it comes to baking…this is another story. But I don’t give up. My
biggest problem is replacing eggs. The other ingredients I can replace without
problem: instead of butter I take margarine or oil. Instead of honey I take
maple syrup. And instead of milk I take almond milk. So I decided to make
almond milk. One can buy it in the shops to buy I have a problem: one can
always buy 1 liter. But often I need much less. And before I buy too much, I
prepare it myself. The almond milk is easy to prepare...you only need almonds
and water. You can read below how you can make almond milk.

Chocolate salami
Monday, October 2, 2017
Today's recipe is a recipe from my childhood. I must confess, I never baked the chocolate salami myself until a few weeks ago, but this recipe has been on my to-do list for so long. And one cold day I wanted to eat something sweet and since I had all the ingredients at home I prepared the chocolate salami.
Fried king oyster mushrooms with mozzarella and walnuts
Tuesday, September 26, 2017
The summer is over now. I was
hoping that we will have some nice late summer days or nice autumn days, but
this is not the case at the moment. Theoretically autumn is not so bad...if it
wouldn’t rain so much. And if the days wouldn’t be so gray and cold. What I
like about autumn is the colourful leaves and the seasonal fruits and
vegetables. Figs, mushrooms, pumpkins...they all have season now. All this
makes my heart beat faster...because I can finally use all these ingredients
again. And share with you recipes that have been waiting for years to be
published. For example, these fried king oyster mushrooms with mozzarella and
walnuts. The first time I cooked the recipe 3 years ago. And then 2 years ago.
But only now do finally share the recipe with you. Better later than never, or?
No-Knead cheese, tomato, and garlic bread
Wednesday, September 13, 2017
Last
weekend, Zorra and Sandra called for the 20th synchronous baking event. We baked
a no-knead bread with cheese, tomatoes and garlic. The original recipe is from kingarthurflour.com But I changed the
recipe a bit.
Mini Pavlova
Saturday, September 9, 2017
I know, I know. There are
already 2 pavlova recipes on the blog. At the beginning I didn’t want to
publish today’s recipe. After I cooked the asparagus with sauce hollandaise, I remained
with 2 eggs whites. I decided to bake mini pavlovas. When I was home for
Christmas I had an attempt to bake some. But since I was not familiar with the
oven and I also had no oven thermometer I burned the pavlovas. At my place I
always use a thermometer so this time everything worked just fine. When I tried
the first piece I was so excited that I could not keep the recipe only for me. And
I think you will not mind.
Tomatoe-basil soup
Tuesday, September 5, 2017
From an astronomical point of view, the summer will
continue until 22 September. But if you look out the window, autumn is already
here. For a few days it has been cold and rainy in Vienna. I am a summer person and I really
hoped that we will still have a few warm days. But it does not look like this
at the moment. As the weather was cold, I cooked a hot soup on the weekend.
Italian antipasti plate
Thursday, August 31, 2017
A
few weeks ago I bought a 3-in-1 sandwich maker. My sandwich maker broke, so I
was looking for a new one. And then I have found a cheap 3-in-1 device. In
addition to the sandwich plate, it also has a grill and a waffles plate. I had
to test everything, so I decided to prepare an antipasti plate. Everything
worked very well so that I can show you today the result. An Italian antipasti
plate is something very tasty and even if you don’t own a grill, you can
prepare it. I will not make state any quantities, only a list of the
ingredients and the preparation method.
Sugar melon buttermilk ice cream
Sunday, August 27, 2017
As you may know, since last year I am the owner of an ice machine. Last year I didn’t use the ice machine so much, but this year I changed this. I'm not the big ice cream eater now, but I like to try new tastes. To be honest I like more refined tastes, such as this sugar melon buttermilk ice cream.
Rib-Eye steak with roasted tomatoes
Monday, August 21, 2017
Today all the meat will be happy! Today I noticed, that I didn’t post a meat containing recipe for a while. But as you already know by now, I don’t often cook with meat. And when I am cooking, then mostly beef or chicken. Today’s recipe is a rib-eye steak with roasted tomatoes. Something I had recently for lunch.
Watermelon-shrimps-salad
Wednesday, August 16, 2017
Sarah from Knusperstübchen is hosting a blog event where her readers and other bloggers can share their favorite summer recipes. I took this event as an occasion to show you one of my favorite summer salads: watermelon shrimp salad. In the summer I like to eat salads and this one I prepare every year.
Sour cherry liqueur
Monday, August 7, 2017
As you can still find sour cherries to buy, I thought it is time to show you the recipe for homemade cherry liqueur. I made this liqueur 2 years ago, but I didn’t manage to publish the recipe until now. I don’t want to wait another year, so I publish today. As you just notice, today I have no inspiration for a better introduction. I just repeat myself. Sometimes this happens 🙈. Another thing I can say about the recipe: it's a family recipe - I got it from my grandma. So, now I leave you with the recipe, it just does not get any better.
Apricot crumble cake
Wednesday, August 2, 2017
Last week I bought 1 kg of apricots. I love them, but I can not eat 1 kg within one day. Usually you don’t have to, because the apricots don’t spoil within a few days. But that's exactly what happened to my apricots. When I wanted to eat a new apricot the next day, I realized that some were spoiled. And I still had so many. So what could I do? I did not want to make jam. And also no liqueur, because I have 2 others in the making. So I decided to bake a cake. I read some recipes in my cookbooks and then decided to make an apricot sprinkle cake.
Crispy pizza with brie and pear
Friday, July 28, 2017
The weather was not particularly nice this week in Vienna. It rained a lot and it was pretty cool. I really wondered if the summer was already over. The good thing about it was that I have cooked again. When it is warm in the summer, my oven usually stays cold. But now I could make the stove hot without having 100 degrees in the apartment. And so I used this time to bake again pizza. I have not done this for a long time and I really wanted to eat a homemade pizza.
